Looking for sports? Then scuba diving, golf, polo, and paddleboarding are among the options. There’s something for everyone at Riviera Nayarit.
Nayarit is famous for its culinary delights commensurate with Mexico’s Pacific coast.
Rincón de Guayabitos
Rincón de Guayabitos − a family favorite. Thanks to its almost 2 km of fine white sand and gentle waves, Rincón de Guayabitos is known as the largest pool in Mexico. Playa Guayabitos is the heart of the Riviera Nayarit. Its various attractions range from resort complexes to intimate bungalows, thus ensuring you enjoy your stay.
If you’re in the area, don’t miss out on attractions such as Coral Island, an ecological reserve with a huge variety of typical regional flora and fauna.
If you take a ride on a glass-floor boat, you will be able to see the Virgin of the Immaculate Conception on the seafloor. She’s 1.6 meters tall and considered the patron saint of fishermen in the region.
Beautiful Sayulita − hippy-chic par excellence in the Riviera Nayarit.
On its beaches, you’ll see youngsters, adults, and children enjoying the relaxed
atmosphere. In town, people stroll through the streets, soaking up the spirit of the place.
Just 8 minutes from downtown, check out Los Muertos Beach. Here, from the early hours and thanks to the tides, surfers are waiting to catch that perfect wave. Paddle surfers and yoga practitioners, too, find that connection with nature they were looking for.
A few kilometers out to sea from Sayulita are the Marietas Islands, an archipelago made up of a group of small uninhabited islands classified and protected as a biosphere reserve.
La Nopalera, surrounded by walls of nopal cactus, is known for its beautiful
crystal clear waters teeming with fish of all colors − an ideal place for snorkeling.
The endemic fauna of the region is sure to amaze you.
Playa del Amor or Playa Escondida is the most famous of the Marietas Islands, a beach trapped in the center of a cavern with a collapsed ceiling. This is a beautiful place that you can only get to by jumping from a boat and swimming through a volcanic rock tunnel. The setting for so many postcards and stories with its unique natural landscape. An unforgettable place, one so popular that for its best stewardship it has become a protected area with restricted access. So before setting out for a visit, it’s extremely important to take this into consideration.
Punta Mita is located on the Banderas Bay peninsula, about 15 km southwest of Sayulita and just 8 km west of Destiladeras.
When you set foot in this coastal town and stop on the white sands of the peninsula, which boasts nearly 10 km of pristine beaches surrounded by verdant hills, you will see why this fishing village known for its luxurious homes, resorts, and golf courses is synonymous with tranquility, thanks to the splendor of the Pacific Ocean that washes over it.
Considered one of the most important destinations for golf aficionados, Punta Mita features courses with both beautiful and demanding routes that will leave you with an unforgettable experience. And of course, after your round, its beautiful spas are there to pamper you.
Located between the calm Pacific Ocean and the Ameca River, which forms the boundary with Jalisco, in Nuevo Vallarta you can see spectacular wildlife, such as pelicans, herons, and the reptiles that make this beautiful spot their home.
Another natural boundary is the Sierra de Vallejo, home of the jaguar and biosphere reserve − a spectacular landscape! Nuevo Vallarta is the gateway to the Riviera Nayarita, which extends for 305 km, and the second most important planned hotel resort in Mexico. With its elegant complexes along the beach, the variety of hotels ensures a luxury gastronomic experience.
Playa Nuevo Vallarta is known for its important restaurants, many of them located within these resorts, which are sure to offer you an unparalleled experience.
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle
La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is located between Bucerías and Punta Mita. Midway between the two, it has the best of both worlds.
A fishing village for generations, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle is now modernized, thanks to the construction of the Riviera Nayarit Marina, large and modern with capacity for up to 400 boats. The development has managed to create a harmony between sophistication and luxury and the typical, quiet, picturesque life of a village.
In the afternoon you can still see the fishermen landing in their boats with the catch of the day. Thanks to them, the supply of fresh fish and seafood is abundant and varied, giving an exquisite touch to the dishes that are prepared in the restaurants to delight the most demanding palates.
